Smart Museum- Self Evaluation.

                Well my group and me chose The Smart Museum.  I think that is the first time I really like to work in group because I am the person who really hated the group projects.  Checked the time my classmates can meet and gave the different work for each one I don’t liked that. However, I really liked to work this time. First, nobody couldn’t the days I had free because they just can on Friday, but I changed my shift and we went to the museum on Friday morning.  In the museum was easy to  work because we merge very well. When we do, the power point was easy. I did the complete idea, put the information, and I send it to my classmates and they add the things and put more information and that was the first time I really worked and group because I always did the work. However, going to the museum I learned different paintings and things. The museum was small but with some interesting paintings. I showed the pictures to my sister and she already asked me to go with her in my vacations.

Shadows

           

          Well. Like I tell you in class I always have special pleasure to the shadows and I can’t explain exactly why, but I love to see them. Well, in front of my room is a small sculpture on a table and it always reflect a shadow that I really like it.

          I think I like it because it looks like a child praying and looks so sweet and that made me remember when was young and I did it. However, when I had the assignment without thinking I took the picture and when I was doing it I saw that myself had a shadow in the wall, but it looks not like myself it looks more like a fetus or when a mother is giving birth. 

Frida Kahlo

  

                 Frida is a movie about Frida Kahlo where it shows the life of her. At the beginning of the story it showed how funny she was how she loved the life. At short age, she suffered a bus accident with his boyfriend, he was fine, but she couldn’t walk for long time. His boyfriend left Mexico and while she was in bed because the accident she started painting. After long time, she could walk and she met Diego Rivera a revolutionary painter. He recognized that she was really good painter. They were really good friends and after a while they married. Frida caught him with another girl, but because she knew that his husband was unfaithful she forgot him. However, after caught him with her sister, Frida leave him. The movie shows a strong, introvert, different Frida that the people at that that time was supposed to see. Because the accident she suffered, all of his life was problems. When she was old, she was in bed couldn’t do anything. She married again with Diego Rivera because he asked and her collections were really famous. This are some facts that show in the movie. I am Mexican and I never saw the movie before because the comments the people tell me were not good. However, for me the movie was a little boring and I could understand the movie because some parts are in Spanish. The story is really good, I didn’t know the entire story about Frida and I study her in school in my home town. After I finished seeing the movie I taught how I couldn’t see it before.

Art Institute.

Art Institute

            My sister is a big fan of art, despite she doesn’t know anything about it or just the most famous things, she always want to go to the art museums to feel nice. However, she always asked me to go to the Art Institute and my answer always was the same “boring”. When, I saw the webpage, an interested about the museum born on me because it looks nice. When I entered into the museum I wasn’t feeling good at all, but I did my max trying to learned. The first exploration was good saying that I really do not find so much interest to the paintings. The famous painting by George Seurant that I did not know before just when I entered to the class was nice. Seeing it closely was different effect from see it from far. The Van Gogh paintings are so nice too, but the one I really like it because I think is different for the other paintings is The Bedroom is colorful and alive.

In the last galleries, it was many good paintings. When we need to pick up one painting for the group work, my partner and I had a different likes, so we choose one that I really like it.

In the mini presentations my classmates gave, I learned about different paintings and I saw different things that I didn’t see it before the presentations. 

Industry Of The Ordinary

          The day was the field trip to the museum of Industry Of The Ordinary I couldn't go because i was sick. However, I went to the museum the couple weeks later by myself. When I just arrived at the museum I was confused when I entered and saw the projection i was like what it this. I walked  the all museum and read the all information, but I was still confused. The security lady told "hey, you can seated and saw the projection" so i did it. When I finished saw it i entered into the house and saw the portraits with the self images and i was in shock because i really like that. I discovered that art can be a simple things not just big sculptures or famous paintings. I still a little confused about the museum because it was really different at what I'm used to see or know about museums.

This Art work is representational because is something real present. Is show a visible work, visual experience. Is representational because is a human being.

 The artist Kevin Van Aelst  make the extraordinary from the ordinary. He use the commons artifacts from the real life to make an extraordinary art work. 

Exploring the Website AIC

        Well, exploring the page was fun and boring at the same time. At first, when I started doing the homework I thought so boring and I cannot lie some collections were boring for me; I do not know why they were art. However, in explore collection the Portraits and mythology theme were interested.  Some collections were good and I discovered that my style was colorful and kind antiques sculptures because the paintings did not attract me too much. The one I liked most is call Chupicuaro and is from my country and like 3 hours from my city, but this is not why I like it.  The all sculpture is awesome.

 Looking, all the website make me learned different kinds of art, but most important for me I starting looking what kind of art is more interesting for me. 

Loop Tour

Loop Tour

         The loop tour was so interesting.  I did the loop tour by myself and it was not so good because when I asked the people to take me a picture and each work it was a challenge, some were really bad taking pictures and some just told me "no thank you". In despite of that, it was really knowledge.  Usually I do not walk to much in the loop and because of that I did not knew the art that is in the loop. However, I started the tour and the information in the audio was really helpful and interesting. It just said a brief history and some details, but I was hoping the audio said more information because and some works I wanted to know more. I cheat I little beat because I didn’t start in the number one, for walked less instead I started in number 8 and the go to number 1 and because of that I was jumping the audio, but that didn’t distract me from the information. I was so interested in what the information said. Like, in the Millenium Park, the information was interesting I think that and the Picasso’s work were the most important, for me. I learned a lot in the tour like the Picasso work was so controversial and that are many art work that were made for remember people. When I arrived to my house I told my sister how awesome the tour was and I recommend my sister to do it because she loves all of this things.

I knew this before, so many times, but i didn't know that the idea of the artist was to express the idea that the human body is made most with water.

I started the tour with this work aI started the tour with this work and it was i challenge because all the people who took me the picture were really bad taking picture, so i take it by myself and i don't show in the picture, but i want to show because it's the art work that i most liked. it's so colorful  and so pretty and the idea how the artist create it was good. Monument with Standing Beast.

Picasso's Chicago is made for the famous artist Pablo Picasso and it was made it exactly for the city of Chicago for free. In the firsts days it was so controversial. However, now is the most famous and the one the people more like it. I can believe that it was orange and it's true for me looks like woman.

 Sorry, this picture don't show the work complete. However, it was the one that I liked less because i think that is a copy from the Picasso. I know that is not a copy, but is similar idea. It is in front of the Picasso's and some people compered like i did.

Flamingo

 Is the largest piece that you can walk. I always asked with it was called Flamingo because it doesn't looked like flamingo. Well, i learned that it was called just more for abstract.

          Well, the loop tour was nice and at the same time tired and this is just a little bit of what i learned in the loop tour.

           

Boat Ride

      Definitely the boat tour was great for me. I really liked it. It was the first time doing a boat tour and I was surprising with myself that I had five years living here in Chicago and most of the buildings I never notice how they look or the structure. I just saw a lot of building without notice them. However, after this tour I am sure that I will stop to look the buildings and saw the structure. Well I always wanted to do a boat trip, but I never did it because going by myself is not fun. I enjoyed going with my classmates. In the tour were a lot of buildings I really liked
 

 This building is not big and pretty, but it has something that made it interesting and that really like me. It made his own air condition from the water. I think that is like green architecture. Like the reading in the book The Michelle Kaufmanns Glidehouse.

 This one is the one I most liked. The structure the material, everything is wondefull in the bulding. In the tour the lady said that is the one, that is most thinny on the top. Is like the Wainwright Building in the book. I think this building is steel-frame construction.

This building is the longest building or this is what I heard from the lady. Is call Merchandise Mart.

This building is call Trump International Hotel & Tower and surprisingly I never saw this building before. It sounds crazy, but in the tour was the first time I saw and despite I do not like tall, new and fancy buildings I really like this one. I think the construction is call cast-iron construction. I like more old fashion constructions.  

The Sacred Realm "Bahai Temple"

        The Bahai Temple is here in the north side of Chicago. I  think that Bahai Temple will be in the theme "The Sacred Realm." 

Is a temple and it serve a bahai religion. Is not exactly a religion because is for all people and is open to all the public. This place is reserved for worship this means that is open to all religious and just one is putting together. Here doesn't matter if you are catholic, islamic etc...  is to put together the people. With just one idea "one god". The First Bahai temple was made in iran for Mirza Husayn'Ali (1817-1892) an arabic person that was called "The glory of God"  There are just 9 temples in all over the world and this one in chicago is considered the one most important. It have 9 entrance and all entrance are the principal. it have  9 gardens too, 9 windows all is made with 9. 

 The symbol showed on the picture is on the top of the temple and is the representation of a sentence in Arab that means or entirely glorious glory. And is the most important symbol in the temple. 

In the tracery of the towers are intertwined all religious symbols from the past, showing every religious person "Welcome to this temple exemplifies the universal brotherhood."

I think that the Bahai Temple match the theme "The Sacred Realm" because was made for rituals of worship and was for prayer someone. And at that years they really don't know that will be a famous architectural temple.

Tower of Pisa

            Well, my story in an architectural experience is not good. I traveled like 4 hours to get to the city to see the famous Tower of Pisa and i was so anxious to see it. When i arrived to the city i needed to walk because you cannot enter in car. I walked like 15 min and when i saw the first expression was like ok is kind of tall is inclined, but this it I took a picture an i walked for see it more closed it. The truth is that was so unsatisfied because i imagined something tall and big. However, i gave a second chance and i entered well, it was just a lot of small thinning escalators you just go up in a small size in the top was nothing and the view was horrible. The architecture inside was almost falling down. Well, it nice because is inclined, but after i go down to the tower i just said lets go to shopping. The tower of pisa is so famous, but for me is not so awesome like the people said. 

     

Notre Dame Cathedral

Notre Dame Cathedral Paris

          The artwork I choose is called "Notre Dame Cathedral" and is a cathedral in France. I really do not know who made it, but searching in the web the only thing i found it was that Bishop Maurice de Sully ordered to made it. However, many people were involved in the construction because the time passed and each person made remodeling. Well, why i liked? I only heard about the cathedral in a disney movie, but i really do not about the story. Well, i went to Paris and i saw a lot of art paintings, sculptures, architecture etc.. but the art that most attracts me was the cathedral, it is amazing. At the first looking you say, wow and after you know all the story and how is made is more wow. Well, is a cathedral it was suppose that was made it for catholic purposes, but i like it because it have a really good architecture. First, the front have too many small sculptures that each one have the own history. In the above picture is on the back of me the small sculptures it can't really see it very well. Second, inside of the cathedral have like a big mirrors that are amazing. i can't really tell you all the story because is a lot. I was reading in a web page the story of it and is kind of different one that in France told me. One interesting fact that made me love more it was that when France was in world war two almost all France disappear i mean that almost everything was destroyed. However, the Notre Dame Cathedral wasn't destroyed because the construction of the cathedral have a big mirrors for walls and is just destroyed the mirrors and it are the walls, that means that they just put mirrors again and is good again. Well, they told me too that, most people see it because the architecture not for catholics reasons. The walls are so unique too, because it have some things that made the sound of the orchestra unique. I really recommend you to learn about it because is amazing
